Quick Tip: Use kayak cart to move FSUP board around. Place kayak cart under bow area of FSUP, and secure with bungee cords to D-rings on top of board. Use rear handles to pull FSUP behind or push forward. Cut out in rear of FSUP board is perfect for this purpose.
Question: Does trolling motor shaft should touch edge of board when installed on motor mount?
Answer: Yes, this is an intentional design feature to support heavier motors. The motor shaft is meant to rest against the reinforced edge of the XFSUP board, which has an added PVC layer to handle the load. Forward thrust of heavier outboard motors creates a lever effect that puts high stress on the motor-mount D-rings, and the shaft contact helps distribute that force. Shaft movement will not damage the heavy-duty fabric under normal use. For easier use, lock the shaft in the forward position and steer with a paddle as a rudder; a tiller-extension handle from Amazon can be used if extra reach is needed.
Question: How can I increase the strength of cam-buckle tie-downs for heavier outboards?
Answer: These simple changes make cam-buckle tie-downs hold much stronger when using 3HP+ outboards.
