FAQ:

Question: Can this kayak be used for fishing, how do I add rod holders?

Answer: Yes, this kayak can definitely be used for fishing. It features a sturdy aluminum board across the hull, which allows you to bolt on fishing rod holders, fish finders, or other gear directly.

You also have several other options for adding rod holders. Glue-on holders, such as those made by Scotty, can be attached to the top of the side tubes or the floor. A milk crate with rod holders can be placed on the floor and secured with bungee cords or tie-downs.

The new Version 2.0 model now includes accessory rail tracks that are compatible with most standard kayak accessories, such as RAILBLAZA rod holders and track mounts available on Amazon. There are many setup possibilities depending on your needs and creativity.

Quick setup instructions:

  • If not already done, bolt the rotomolded pedal drive mount to the aluminum bench using the 2 provided stainless bolts. Then, attach the 2 plastic sliding locks on top of the mount using 2 screws each—these hold the pedal drive rod in place.
  • Place the aluminum bench between the two D-rings on each side of the tube, just in front of the cut-out. Use the 2 provided straps to secure the bench so it doesn’t move. For stronger hold, you can replace the straps with heavy-duty lashing tie-downs from Amazon—just cut them shorter and seal the ends with a flame.
  • Position the bench so the mount is centered in the kayak and aligned with the cut-out in the floor. The pedal drive shaft should be straight down and centered.
  • Remove the Velcro cover and lower the pedal drive into the cut-out. Use the Velcro strap across the front D-rings to hold the drive in place and prevent it from lifting while pedaling. To remove or lift the drive, unstrap the Velcro and rotate the motor out using the rod inside the mount. You can also rest the prop on top of the closed cover.
  • Do not turn the pedals when the prop is resting on the kayak surface—this can loosen the prop bolt and cause it to fall off during use.
  • Use the double D-ring straps to secure your beach chair to the floor. Try different positions for best balance; lower seating generally works better.
  • Use the kayak paddle to steer or make small adjustments with just a few strokes.

Important Notes on assembly:

  • Assemble kayak and pedal drive at your home first, before going for actual water run.
  • Make sure all components fit properly. Please check all nuts and bolts not to be loose before first use.
  • When pedal drive lowered, it's shaft should rest against cut out front section.
  • Pedal drive shaft must be perpendicular to kayak floor.
  • If pedal drive not perpendicular to the floor, it might be necessary to re-drill new holes on aluminum bench to adjust position of pedal drive little bit forward or backward. Because inflatable kayaks assembled manually, one by one, slight variations are possible during production. If that is the case, and shaft not under 90 degree angle to the floor, then all you need to do, is to remove bolts from motor mount, position it on top of aluminum bench in a such way that shaft of pedal drive is perpendicular to the floor, mark edge of motor mount on bench, and drill 2 new holes to secure motor mount to bench. Another option would be to remove plastic pedal drive mount, rotate it 180 degree, and then bolt it back to aluminum bench. Because distance from tube to edge of mount different that might move pedal drive shaft to correct position without need for drilling.

Important Warnings:

– Do not use a hammer during pedal drive assembly. This will damage internal gears and void the warranty.
– Of the two bolts securing the pedal cranks, one is clockwise and the other is counterclockwise.
– Inspect all bolts to ensure they are tight. Use liquid thread locker if needed.
– Check that the bolt holding the propeller is secure to avoid losing the prop in water. Apply thread locker here as well.
– Periodically lubricate the pedal drive for smooth operation.
– Always wear or have a personal flotation device (PFD) available.
– Inflate the main floor to a maximum of 70 kPa (10 PSI) and the side tubes to 25 kPa (3.5 PSI).
– Do not place heavy loads on the kayak while the fins are touching the ground.
– Never drag the kayak over pavement.
– Click the "Attachment" tab to download the pedal drive manual.
– Kayak warranty is 3 years; pedal drive warranty is 1 year.

So, I bought this boat after a lot of thought and pondering about having an inflatable kayak for fishing. I ended up buying the beach chair from this site as well.

I've been fishing with pedal kayaks for over 10 years and wanted something that I could throw in the trunk instead of hooking up the trailer.

Pros: With an electric pump inflation is fast.
With the available rudder system, installing a corded control is simple and effective using the rings mounted on the boat.
The boat actually turns much more quickly than either my Pescador Pilot or my Native Watercraft.
There is ample space for a tackle box and the rails work well for pole mounts.
It's agile, responsive and stable.

Cons: The strap system for securing the chair is merely adequate, and the straps work loose fairly quickly.
The same is true for the strap system that holds the mounting plate for the pedal drive. You may have to modify it. I bought sinch straps and made my own. They work well.
There are abundant pre-mounted rings to cinch and secure pretty much everything you might need to secure, but the provided straps work loose rather quickly.

Other considerations. The Native Water craft pedal kayak is nearly $3,000 and the Perception Pescador Pilot Pedal kayak is in the same price range. The pedal drive on the Native Watercraft appears to be the same one or nearly identical to the one offered with the Saturn boat. Try pricing just the pedal drive for either of the other two boats and you will see that the cost for the pedal drive alone, is close to what you are paying for Saturn's entire outfit.

Time will tell how durable the Saturn boat is. But for now, I intend to use it as much as I can.

I would recommend this boat for someone who enjoys tinkering a bit and customizing it to fit their needs.

Received the boat in good packaging that had handle with care all over it, which is a good thing because the shippers don't care and throw around packages. Took it out fishing and it performed great minus some little things that needs details. These are my pro's and con's below.

Pros:
-Pedal works great
-boat is easy to inflate with hand pump
-came with rudder
-came with under fins as well
-water never splashed up from the propeller
-quality seems to be made well. Compared to my buddies NRS and Bote non-pedal kayak the material quality feels the same.
-T tracks work great that came with it, but a little wobbly due to it not being on a surface like a hard kayak when I put my 7" fishfinder on it with a swing arm along with the sonar arm scotty mount.

Cons:
-No seat buy your own. I bought a kayak seat from bass pro - ascend 128x seat works great.
-Pedal sits way too low. Pedal kept hitting on the foot area rubber piece. Use a piece of wood or PVC pipe under the mount or cut a piece of wood/acrylic sheet to raise it between the propeller mount and aluminum.
-Buy ratchet straps or better straps to replace all the straps that use the loop ring. I would say this is a must so it doesn't get loose because it will and you will be messing with it your entire outing. The propeller mount kept loosening.

Overall, I like the quality of the kayak and its portability. I have had heavy kayaks and it is a chore to load unload. This thing is simple and folds up in minutes. My buddies were impressed with the quality and the cost compared to their NRS and Bote counterpart without pedals. I might have convinced them into purchasing one in the future.

Very solid boat. It does a good job ,but don't treat it as a $2-3k boat. You need to spend more time and effort to make it work better. Strongly recommend replace all straps with some heavy duty ones from Amazon. BTW, perfect customer service. Very quick respond and very professional. Very happy to get it from here.

I love it. Great build quality. It's just what I've wanted for years and now here it is. Stand up paddle fishing is fun too. I think I'm going with a tommy bahamma chair from Costco they have some for 45, also go buy the pelican mh10 so you can steer this bad boy with the rudder

Been out a few times with this boat now. This boat is fun! It has some glaring design weaknesses, that I'll take care of and, considering the price and build quality, I can live with that. The bungeed cargo area could and should be inset. Some of the D-ring webbing is of a slick material so doesn't hold tight. This is especially problematic with the loop that's supposed to be used as a paddle/rudder point. Slips right open. Useless. It's an unacceptable means of steering regardless, especially when trolling backwards, as is trying to manage dipping too short paddle ends. I've already added a flip down bow steering rudder. This also allows me to forego the PITA fins that clip on the underside. All that said, it's solid and quite stable, even with a high seat. The motor is well built and HEAVY. Maybe aluminum housing would've been good. One final note. It does not come with a paddle as others have stated.

It doesn't happen often that you purchase something and months later you think this is actually money well spent and price is really good. This yak is one of those feel good buy. This is a well built kayak and honestly I haven't found another like it at same price. Hobie has one but the price is outrageous.
The pedal drive is great since I fish a lot and even just pedaling around the lake on a nice day is relaxing. I hope this will not be discontinued and if I save soon enough will get another for my daughters graduation present.

This boat gets so many comments, mainly "It looks like you're having fun!" and it's true. I did have a small problem with the pedal drive when I ordered it, but the folks at Boats to Go were so responsive in getting me the part I needed, just excellent customer service!

It took me a while to get the kayak working correctly, some of it was my issue, but the service department was unbelievably responsive and were willing to do whatever was necessary to make sure that I was happy. The kayak does come with a two sided kayak paddle, but not the one sided stand up paddleboard (SUP) paddle that you might want to use as a rudder with a handle. I found that for peddling, if I didn't use the fin, and just used the included paddle as a rudder it made the kayak super responsive and controllable, but you wouldn't be able to paddle it straight without the fin, but it's great when peddling (and I will never paddle again after how fast and easy it goes with the "motor"). I'm very happy with my purchase and am building up my leg endurance like crazy. It's also a third the price of other inflatable pedal kayaks and works great.

its so much fun to pedal in this, its nice and relaxing just what i need. Really easy to transport and use I am super happy with my purchase.

This PK 365 is so much fun to ride and people keep looking at me so surprised. I was afraid it might be easy to tip over since I prefer a high chair on it but was pleasantly surprised on how stable it is.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: Can this kayak be used for fishing, how do I add rod holders?

Answer: There is sturdy aluminum board attached across kayak hull. Fishing rod holders, fish finders, and other equipment can be bolted right to that aluminum board. Optional Scotty glue on fishing rod holders can be glued to top of tubes or floor. Milk crate with fishing rod holders can be placed on floor and secured with bungee cords or lashing tie downs. Possibilities are endless for customers with imagination and good hands.

Question: Why kayaks does not have rudder in a rear?

Answer: In order to keep price affordable, we decided to opt out of kayak rudder. Kayak comes with 2 fins that offer strait tracking. Kayak paddle can be used to adjust direction as needed. Optional rudder can be easily added to this kayak if it required. Please see suggested method of installation in Attachments tab.
