Saturn FPK365 V1 specifications

The Saturn FPK365 inflatable kayak is designed with convenience and versatility in mind. Built-in accessory rail tracks make it easy to add your favorite gear, whether it’s fishing rod holders, cup holders, or a fish finder. Paddle holders on the left side keep your paddles secure, while the bungee storage area offers quick access to extra gear during your trip.

For those who want extra power on the water, four strategically placed D-rings on top of the tubes allow you to set up a simple DIY electric motor mount. Just use an 8" wide plywood board secured with lashing tie-downs, then attach a vertical motor plate either on the side or through a cut-out in the floor. Full instructions are available under the Attachments tab.

This kayak also features a removable rotomolded pedal drive well, making transport and storage easier. For smooth installation and removal, simply use a bit of soapy water or shampoo—no forcing required, since the snug fit is designed to lock securely into the drop-stitch floor.

The Saturn FPK365 gives you multiple options—paddle, pedal, or power—so you can enjoy your adventures exactly the way you want.

Kayak Pedal Drive Instructions

1. This is NOT a racing kayak.
   - Do NOT apply excessive pressure on the pedals to increase speed. Doing so may damage the chains and cables.
   - Average kayak speed is 3-4 mph. Overloading with powerful pedal strokes may cause damage, which is not covered by warranty.

2. Pedal Technique:
   - Avoid pushing the pedals too fast. Apply steady, light pressure for smooth forward movement.
   - A stroke every 2 seconds is sufficient to propel the kayak efficiently.
   - Shorter strokes, instead of full-range ones, can also maintain speed.

3. Pedal Drive Locking:
   - Ensure the black dot on the pedal well faces backward (towards you). If it's not aligned, deflate the floor section, rotate the rotomolded well part 180 degrees, and re-inflate to fix the unlocking issue.

4. Shallow Water Warning:
   - When in shallow waters, prevent the pedal drive fins from hitting the bottom by moving the pedals apart to flatten the fins against the kayak bottom.

5. Carry a Paddle:
   - Always bring a paddle as a backup in case of pedal drive issues.

6. Pedal Drive Alignment:
   - Ensure the rotomolded insert is aligned straight. Slight movement of the locks during pedaling is normal due to the flexibility of the insert.

7. Safety Gear:
   - Always wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD), carry a whistle and communication device, and inform someone of your trip plans.

8. Spare Parts:
   - Contact us if you need spare parts. We're happy to assist!

Frequently Asked Questions – FPK365 Pedal Kayak

Q: Can the FPK365 kayak be used for fishing? How can I install fishing rod holders?

A: Absolutely! The FPK365 is well-suited for fishing and comes with two pre-installed accessory gear tracks for mounting fishing rod holders, fish finders, and other equipment. Most YakAttack, Railblaza, and RAM Mounts accessories designed for gear tracks are compatible.

Additional mounting options include:

  • Glue-on rod holders: Scotty glue-on fishing rod holders can be attached to the top of the inflatable tubes or floor.
  • Fishing crate: A milk crate equipped with rod holders can be placed on the kayak floor and secured using bungee cords or tie-down straps.
  • Custom accessories: Anglers with basic DIY skills can create their own fishing setups using a variety of readily available accessories.

The FPK365 offers plenty of flexibility for customizing your fishing setup.

Q: How do I replace a broken pedal-drive chain?

A: Replacement chains are available from us if needed. The replacement process is relatively simple and requires only needle-nose pliers and painter's tape.

Follow the step-by-step instructions in this YouTube video.

Important: You do not need to completely remove the pedal-drive fin. Simply pull it down slightly to create enough clearance to feed the replacement chain through the opening.

Q: The kayak comes with two removable skeg fins. When should I use them?

A: The FPK365 can be operated with or without the pedal drive and with or without the rudder steering system. The removable skeg fins help improve straight-line tracking, but the best configuration depends on how you use the kayak.

  • Paddling without the rudder steering system: Install both skeg fins, one in front and one in the rear. This provides better straight-line tracking when using a kayak paddle. You can also adjust direction with your paddle.
  • Using the pedal drive with rudder steering: For the tightest turns and best steering response, we recommend removing both skeg fins. Alternatively, you can install only the rear fin for additional tracking stability.
  • Using the rudder steering system: Avoid installing the front skeg fin, particularly when using the pedal drive, as it can reduce turning responsiveness.
  • Optional modification: For those seeking a balance between tracking stability and maneuverability, one of the included skeg fins can be shortened by cutting it approximately in half.

In summary: Use both fins for improved straight-line tracking when paddling without rudder steering, or no fins (or only the rear fin) for better maneuverability when using the pedal drive and rudder steering system.

Q: It seems difficult to install the pedal drive for the first time. Is there an easier way?

A: Installing the pedal drive may feel tight at first, especially when the kayak is new. Make sure everything is properly aligned and avoid forcing it into place. A few drops of oil on the mounting contact points can make installation much easier. After a few uses, installing and removing the pedal drive should become quick and simple.

I recently purchased the 12' FPK365 Inflatable Kayak with Fin Pedal Drive, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The pedal drive system offers a unique and enjoyable way to propel the kayak, giving me a great workout while exploring the water. The kayak's construction is top-notch, providing excellent stability and durability. I highly recommend this kayak to anyone looking for a versatile and fun watercraft.
I found this very easy to pedal and quite a lot of fun to be honest. I bought it thinking it could be a workout but find it's just very enjoyable to ride around. All in all it's a 10 out of 10 for me.
I bought a 12' Inflatable Fin Pedal Kayak for me and my spouse. It's durable, customizable, and spacious. Inflation takes time, but it's worth it. Great for fishing trips. Excellent customer support.
Got the 12' Inflatable Fin Pedal Kayak from BoatsToGo and it's exceeded expectations. Surprisingly stable and comfortable, though improved back support would be nice. Overall, a positive experience.
The craft is longer than I was expecting but in a good way, it is very stable and easy to use. The only trouble I experienced was the pedal lock unlocked once or twice while I was using it. The shipping was delayed for a couple of days thanks to FedEx but eventually, the boatstogo team managed to get it moving again, and soon I got it at home. This is a great product and I can easily recommend it.
If you're in the market for a reliable and versatile kayak, look no further than the FPK365 Inflatable Kayak with Fin Pedal Drive. I've had the pleasure of using this kayak on multiple occasions, and it has exceeded my expectations every time. The pedal drive system is a game-changer, offering effortless propulsion and allowing me to cover more distance with ease. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced kayaker, this kayak is a fantastic choice.
This turned out to be great for fishing, I had a bit of trouble assembling it, I wish there was a marking on the rotomolded well to make sure it was oriented properly but other than that I love it. Once it was up and running it was very easy and a joy to use, it's easy to inflate and transport which was a big plus for me. In the future I would love to see more color options, I would definitely buy again.
Surprisingly, the 12' Inflatable Fin Pedal Kayak FPK365 surpassed my expectations. It's much better than what I initially anticipated. So far so good.
The performance of this kayak has been excellent. It handles well in various water conditions, providing a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Despite its inflatable nature, this kayak feels sturdy and reliable. I have confidence in its durability and longevity. Overall good quality.
