Quick Tip:
For easier handling and longer runtime, we recommend using two smaller deep cycle batteries instead of one full-size heavy battery. It’s much more convenient to carry two lighter batteries separately than lug around a single heavy one.
If you prefer a full-size battery, a small foldable hand cart can make transportation a breeze. However, with two smaller batteries (available at stores like Outdoor World), you can power your ride to your fishing spot with the first battery, then switch to the second for the return trip. This setup ensures you’ll always have enough power to get back, without worrying about running out of charge on a single large battery.
Electric Trolling Motors FAQ:
Q: How Long Can My Trolling Motor Run on a Battery Charge?
A: This is one of the most frequently asked questions. Before buying a trolling motor, it’s important to understand two key factors:
Battery’s Amp-Hour Rating: This indicates how long a battery can provide power at a consistent rate. A higher amp-hour rating means longer runtime. For example:
A 100Ah battery can supply 25 amps for 4 hours or 10 amps for 10 hours before depletion.
Motor’s Amps Drawn: This tells you how much power the motor consumes. For example, if a motor draws 40 amps at full speed and you have an 80Ah battery, you can expect about 2 hours of operation at top speed.
Q: Where Can I Get a Battery for My Motor?
A: You can find 12V deep cycle batteries at Amazon, eBay, Walmart, or Costco. Here are some options to consider:
Small & Light: 12V 35Ah battery – easier to carry but shorter runtime.
Medium: 12V 60Ah battery – a balanced choice between weight and runtime.
Large: 12V 120Ah battery – longest runtime but heavier, requiring a foldable hand cart for transport.
Lithium Batteries: Lightest option but also the most expensive.
For convenience, many boaters prefer using two smaller batteries instead of one large one. You can use the first battery to get to your destination and the second for the return trip.
Q: How Powerful of a Motor Do I Need?
A: The power of a trolling motor is measured in pounds of thrust, typically ranging from 30 lbs to 100 lbs. Here’s what to consider:
Boat Weight: A general rule is to have 2 lbs of thrust for every 100 lbs of boat weight, including passengers and gear.
Weather & Water Conditions: Stronger currents or windier conditions may require more thrust, so it’s often best to choose a motor with slightly more power than you think you’ll need.
By slightly overestimating the thrust, you ensure better performance in tougher conditions.
Q: What is the Warranty on the Motor?
A: The motor comes with a 1-year warranty.

The first thing that struck me about this motor was its impressive performance. With a maximum power of 600W and a maximum amp of 50A, this motor delivers powerful thrust that can easily propel my boat through the water.
The motor's performance is further enhanced by its quiet operation. The brushless motor design ensures that the motor runs silently, allowing me to enjoy the tranquility of the water without any noise disturbance. This is a significant advantage, especially when I'm out fishing and don't want to scare away the fish. The Ultra Light 55 lbs Brushless Electric Trolling Motor also comes with a built-in battery level reader. This feature is incredibly useful as it allows me to monitor the battery status and know when it needs recharging. The battery level reader displays accurate available battery power, ensuring that I'm never caught off guard with a dead battery.
The motor is also designed with portability in mind. Weighing only 14 lbs, it's incredibly light and easy to carry around. This makes it perfect for my kayak and inflatable boat. The adjustable angle of the throttle handle also makes motor operation more comfortable, as I can raise it up or tilt it down to suit my preference.
The stepless speed control is another fantastic feature of this motor. It allows for seamless adjustment of speed, providing a smooth and enjoyable boating experience.
