Double-seating adjustable platform for inflatable boats.
Invented by BoatsToGo, patent pending! This new adjustable aluminum
seating platform is designed for two seats instead of one, and takes riding comfort
even further. After trying back support cushioned seating, you’ll never go back to a regular plywood bench.
Due to the fact that this system is mounted to the floor and not to the boat tubes, vibration and bumps during a choppy ride are significantly reduced.
Double-seating platforms can be used along with single seat
platforms in SD365, SD385 and SD430 model boats. Double platforms can also be used along with a central console in SD385 and SD430 model boats.
Holes in the aluminum frames are designed to match 7" economy boat seat pedestals that are sold in many retail stores such as Kmart, Wal-Mart,
Outdoor Words, etc. Folding fishing chairs with back support can easily be installed on top of the boat seat
pedestals. Back support chairs are also available in the retail outlets mentioned above.
An Economy boat seat pedestal retails for around $12 and
fishing chair prices can vary (depending on comfort level) from $12 to $45. You will also need stainless steel
mounting hardware. Bolts with round heads should be inserted in the frame from the bottom up, so that the round head of the bolt touches, but does not scratch the floor.
When installing pedestals on a double frame, make sure that you push them
away from the sides and toward each other before tightening all screws, so that
the outer edges of the seat does not touch the inside of boat tubes. See images below.
Adjustable aluminum
double-seat frames will work fine with both high-pressure air floors and plywood
floors for inflatable boats. The frame is adjustable, and will extend from 39" to
48" fitting aptly inside SD365/SD385 or SD430/SD470 Saturn boats, and many other brands matching these boats
dimensions.
The installation is simple. First, slightly deflate the boat tubes and simply place the platform inside the boat. Then, push the adjustable components away from each other until the outer sides of the aluminum frame tubes touch the inside of the boat tubes. Finally, tighten the screws and inflate boat tubes to squeeze the seating platform between the boat tubes. For boats with plywood floors, the platform will rest on
aluminum edges of the floor.
Adjustable flap tubes are manufactured to precisely fit inside
the main tubes of the platform. When extending out or removing adjustable
C-shape tubes, make sure they
are pulled
out slowly and evenly at the same time on both sides. Silicone spray or WD-40 can be used to smooth
up adjustment procedure or in case if tubes are stuck.
